The Hundred-Year Lie Leadership and Self-Deception The Science of Thank You

Drifting Pesticides

What you don’t know or believe about drifting pesticides could kill you …. or worse kill the future of your children, of the children of the world.  Why would I make such a dramatic statement?  Because there is so much evidence.  I’ve compiled just a few facts below, but don’t take my word for it … Google “drifting pesticides” and see what you find!

We all pretty much understand and accept the adage “you are what you eat.”  Well, consider this:  we are a product of our environment … we are more than what we eat … we are what we breathe and drink.  And even more than eating, drinking and breathing, our skin, the largest organ of our body, absorbs more than we can ever possibly eat, drink and breathe.  Now, that’s real food for thought that can change your health and wellness….

Every day we are exposed to more toxins than we can imagine.  Some even call them invisible killers and the accumulation over time, one drop at a time, absorbed into our body tissue makes up what is known as Body Burden, a toxic burden to your health and wellness.

One known group of environmental toxins is pesticides.  (I’ll reflect on other sources in a future newsletter.)  There is still much we don’t know about health problems that can result from pesticide exposure. One thing we do know, though, is that most pesticides have not been tested for safety on humans and U.S. EPA’s testing guidelines do not require observation of several key endpoints such as developmental neurotoxicity or endocrine disruption. Exposures to multiple pesticides are not evaluated by EPA, even though exposure to multiple pesticides occurs frequently.

Long-term (chronic) health problems can result from both a single high-dose exposure to pesticides and from exposures over a long period of time even when exposure levels are low. Even though people may not know they have been exposed, health problems may emerge years after a serious poisoning incident or from low-level, long-term exposure.  For a list short-term and long-term effects of pesticide exposure, you may want to visit PANNA’s http://www.panna.org/drift/health.

And guess who the greatest victims are?   Those small, precious lives we call our children, for whom we do so much to shelter and protect in many other ways.  They are the most vulnerable to the negative health and wellness  impacts of pesticides and the Body Burden begins there and sometimes do not appear for decades, though some are seen immediately upon birth with developmental disorders such as autism and aspergers.

The American Red Cross and other agencies have shown in tests using umbilical cords that over 200 chemicals tested for showed up.   Children are still growing and developing, and they are less able to detoxify harmful chemicals. Children tend to play on the floor and put their hands and objects into their mouths, both of which may be coated with pesticide-contaminated dust and dirt (or other toxins such as toxic wood preservative, arsenic). Because children breathe more air, eat more food and drink more water per pound of body weight than adults, they are exposed to relatively greater quantities of pesticides.  Children are less able to detoxify toxic chemicals.

What do we do about all this? As PANNA reports in its reports on “drifting” of pesticides and the second-hand affect of such, http://www.panna.org/drift/health, everyone is exposed.   Use PANNA’s Drift Cather to determine what pesticides you might be exposed to in your closest environment:   http://www.panna.org/drift/catcher.  Join a Pesticide Drift  Campaign:  http://www.panna.org/drift/fight.  We can never completely avoid exposure to pesticides, but we are able to get rid of toxins that are absorbed into our bodies and prevent some of their harmful effects.  Chelators and safer chelator-like products, such as zeolites, have been used for many years.  There are herbal teas known to detoxifiy our liver and kidneys.  Keeping your colon cleansed of build-up helps your body detoxify itself.  In this documentary video, http://www.TheTruthAboutToxins.com find out more about what we can do to rid our bodies of these toxic pesticides and be proactive about your own health and wellness and that of our children.
